Since the start of this year, several developments have impacted the future direction of the Hampshire Together programme. This includes the government’s review of the New Hospital Programme.

A new hospital for Hampshire is now in wave 3 of the national New Hospital Programme with construction scheduled to begin in 2037.

This significant change to the timescale means that more information is needed before NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board and NHS England Specialised Commissioning (for highly specialised services) are able to make decisions on what options should be taken forward and where a new hospital should be built in Hampshire.

The case for change, our overall objectives and the need for a solution around the future of clinical services remain our priorities. We have a wealth of feedback from the public consultation, which was externally recognised as best practice. We will now use this insight and work closely with providers and partners to focus on what interim measures are needed to sustain hospital services in the years before a new hospital is built.
