The Hampshire Together: Modernising our Hospitals and Health Services programme (the ‘controller’), has the opportunity to deliver a new hospital to serve the people of north and mid Hampshire, as well as many healthcare benefits.

The programme has a legal duty under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK Generation Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) to protect any information we collect. The programme fully complies with the legislation and maintains the highest standards in data security and protection. Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), are undertaken to assess risks and identify the legal basis for collection, use, sharing and any other processing of data. These documents are approved by the Data Protection Officer for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Senior Information Risk Owner for Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group.

During the programme we will ask for you to provide your personal information to help us analyse the responses to the consultation and ultimately help us to improve the healthcare services across Hampshire. We will always ask for consent and clearly specify the reason we ask for your information.

We make the following commitments about the data we keep about you and the way that we protect it. We will:

  • Keep the right information to fulfil our legal responsibilities to formally consult on the proposed new hospital and service changes
  • Keep your records safe, secure, and accurate
  • Only keep your information for as long as necessary
  • Collect, store, and use the information you provide in accordance with data protection standards and the laws that govern data protection.

The programme will only use the information collected to enable us to help improve the health and social care in Hampshire for decades to come.

We ask for demographic data, such as age, ethnicity, or sex, before registering for events or completing forms, surveys, and questionnaires to ensure we are reaching as many people as possible and highlighting any data gaps in our consultation. These demographic questions are never mandatory, and you have the option to not share this personal information with the programme.

As part of our commitment to ensure that we engage with as many people as possible across Hampshire, we are also providing the opportunity for people to register their email address with us and receive regular news updates on the programme.

The programme will not share or sell your details to third parties. However, data collected will be shared with outsourced contractors to help the programme analyse the information to help with the development of the programme and its goal to improve healthcare services across Hampshire.

You have legal rights, including a right to have your information processed fairly and a right to access any identifiable information we hold about you.

You have the right to withdraw consent at any time during the consultation for the information you have provided.

To opt-out or withdraw your information, please contact us via hsiccg.hampshiretogether@nhs.net and clearly state that you no longer want the programme to keep your personal information on file.

If you would like further information on how we process your data, please contact our Data Protection Officer or our Data Security and Protection team.
